Spending a Fall Day with My Sister

The month of October did not go as planned. Somewhere along the way, I managed to get sick. I denied the fact and fought it off to the best of my ability. Yet, in the end, the requirement for rest needed to be filled somehow.

The time for recuperation allowed me the opportunity to slow down. My thoughts were able to take on a more natural rhythm. Even now, I am more aware of the present moment than I was before. I think it is important to take times, even if just in small moments, to be with ourselves. We need to recognize that we are beings that crave and need a chance to reset and relax.

After recuperating fully, I was able to spend some quality time with my little sister, Maegan. We wandered all around Farmington enjoying the town and each other’s company. This day was dedicated to preparing the last-minute details for Halloween. We were able to visit some of our favorite spots in Farmington.

We started our adventure off strong with Oso Grande Coffee Company. It is unique coffee shop that opened in 2018. Maegan ordered a vanilla latte, and I got their gingerbread latte with oat milk. We also wanted a bit of a snack, so we ordered the turtle doughnuts. They were a sweet treat, which is just what we wanted.

If you need a good boost of energy, Oso Grande is the place to get your coffee. They offer a multitude of menu items from steamers, coffee, boba, and tea. They also allow customizability to most drinks with a small additional charge. I personally like mixing and matching different flavors and making unique combinations. The menu also already offers delicious blends of flavors, I recommend the Kermode Bear.

The second stop on our list was the Arc thrift store. The Arc is probably my most favorite thrift store in town. I feel like they just accept a very wide variety of items. The Arc is a bit chaotic but I feel like that is part of the fun when going to different thrift stores. You never really know what you are going to find. I advise keeping an open mind and not being afraid to adapt your plans or the items you find to suit your needs.

Our final destination was The Dusty Attic. I cannot speak highly enough about this store. I want to live in it. I enjoy the décor, vibes, and lovely people that work there. In a sense, The Dusty Attic is like a museum to me. Oftentimes, I love to simply wander around and marvel at each of the items they have curated. I like to create and attach stories to different things that I find. The store also creates a living narrative by usually crafting scenes or settings with most of the items they have for sale.

The Dusty Attic also serves the community by renting out booths of different spaces to artists or entrepreneurs. You will find crafts, art, antiques, collectibles, and anything in between there. I encourage everyone to go at least once. They have something for just about every shopper.
